  • What is the reason for the Performing Arts Summer Project?
    The Performing Arts Summer Project exists to bring together talented young performing artists between the ages of 6-14 and provide them with an exciting, educational and intensive performing arts production experience.

  • What are the dates/times of the program?
    The Performing Arts Summer Project will meet June 14-25, 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford.

  • What will my child be learning?
    In the mornings your child will be in core performing arts classes. Which will include acting, singing, musical theater and dance. In the afternoons they will be rehearsing with Michael Lamb and his support staff for the end of the two-week program performances.

  • When are the performances and where will they be held?
    The performances will be on the final day of the program at 1:30pm and 6pm in the beautiful, elegant Autorino Great Hall at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

  • Will it be a full-fledged performance with lights, costumes, make up and more?
    Since the performances will be held in the Autorino Great Hall, production esthetics�? like lighting, sound, sets, props, backdrop will be very limited and used at a minimal.

  • So if this 'production" is very limited in these areas, what will my child get out of the performances?
    Since we are a talent development company our objectives are to develop talent. Participants will have the experience to work with professional performing arts instructors and Broadway performing guest artists in an exciting and organized creative environment. The goal being to present a memorable and high quality theatrical experience for participants and audience members alike without the frills.

  • How many participants will you be accepting into the Performing Arts Summer Project at the Bushnell?
    What are you looking for? The number may vary but the Performing Arts Summer Project will be accepting 15 youth between 6-9 years old and 15 youth for the 10-14 yr olds. We are looking for young people who are talented, hardworking, positive, open to suggestions, team players and eager to learn. If your child isn't selected for the Performing Arts Summer Project this year, please come back and audition again next year. Important* Please keep in mind that we are also offering the one-week Bushnell Summer Program. This program requires no audition. If you would like to register for that program,feel free to visit our website at www.performingartsprograms.biz to find out about all our offering and to find out if there are any classes being offered in your community or surrounding towns.

  • When will we know what role my child will be playing in the performances? Who makes this decision?
    All roles, lines and song assignments will be handed out after the first day or two of the program. Every well-behaved child in the Program will have opportunities to be featured in the performance. Please understand that not every child can get cast as the lead in a show. Our approach is very affirming and positive. Performing Arts Programs staff will make all casting/role decisions.

  • My child is a beginner/very advanced; is this too little/too much for them?
    We offer a comprehensive individualized program. Our team is dedicated to creating a safe, affirming environment where each participant can thrive. Our goal is to help each child of every skill level grow and develop.

  • What is the rehearsal commitment?
    The Program meets at the Bushnell, July 14-25, Monday-Friday(No Weekends), 9am-5pm at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford.

  • What if my child can't be there for a few days, will that jeopardize their involvement in the program and performance?
    It is essential that they attend everyday to assure performance placement. If participants repeatedly fail to show up it could jeopardize their involvement in the final performances. During the program we bring in Broadway and/or NYC performers to work with participants and help enhance their skills.

  • Does everyone get in? When will I know if my child is accepted? What is the cost?
    We would like to accept everyone, but slots are limited. Please don't let this stop you from attending our auditions. We work very hard to make sure that your child will have a great experience at our auditions. Everyone who auditions will be contacted either by letter and/or phone within a week. The cost for selected participants into the Performing Arts Summer Project is $675($630 if you register online) for the entire two-week program. (Early drop off option is available for an additional cost) If you are accepted, registration must be received no later than May 25th in order to ensure a spot in the Program.

  • What do I need to do for the Performing Arts Summer Project audition?
    The audition consists of singing, acting and maybe some dance. If you wish, please bring sheet music or a CD for a song (32 bars) and/or a monologue to read. If you don't have anything prepared, don't worry just bring yourself we will have material for you at the audition. We look forward to meeting you!
