Kate has received a BA in Psychology from the College of Saint Elizabeth and is currently working towards her MA in School Counseling at Saint Joseph College. She has been involved in many theatrical endeavors, including theater instruction, community theater, and children's theater. She also studied acting for two years at Arcadia University in Philadelphia. Favorite shows include King Lear the the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Women and Wallace at Arcadia University Theater, and The Pirates of Penzance with the Hilltop Players. Kate is very excited to be able to share her love of acting with young performers!
CAITLIN ALLEN Drama Instructor
Caitlin recently graduated with a degree in Theatre Studies from Guilford College, where she appeared in many plays, including Trojan Women (Hecuba), Ah, Wilderness! (Lilly Miller), The Exonerated (Sunny Jacobs), and Marisol Heroines in 2005 and collaborated on the direction of Bonjour, la, Bonjour in 2009. Since graduation, Caitlin has continued to pursue her passion for teaching and the performing arts while at New Garden Friends School, where she worked as an extended care teacher. In addition, Caitlin has been heavily involved with the Gesundheit! Institute, a non-profit health care organization started by Dr. Patch Adams. She has been clowning around the world with Patch for years and is currently working with the Institute as a liaison to Maria’s Children, an arts rehabilitation center in Moscow, Russia. Caitlin is thrilled to be a part of Performing Arts Programs, and she looks forward to working with this session’s talented students.
SARAH HUTCHINSON WARNER Drama Instructor
Sarah attended Central Connecticut State University where she received her B.F.A. in Theatre Education. Through this education she has been able to perform in many productions such as The Tempest (Ariel), 9 Parts of Desire (The American - performed at The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in 2008) and Urinetown - The Musical (Little Sally). She also assistant directed The Grapes of Wrath and directed How to Eat Like a Child and The Lottery during her college career. Currently, she works with AHM Summer Youth Theater in Hebron as an assistant director and serves as an assistant leader/vocalist at Church of the Living God in Manchester. Sarah is very excited to share her passion and experience in theatre with Performing Arts Programs!
AMELIA NEMETH Drama Instructor
Amelia Nemeth, a Connecticut native and former student of Michael Lamb, is thrilled to be coming "home" and joining the staff of Performing Arts Programs. Amelia graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA with a BFA in Music Theatre. After college, Amelia hit the road performing on the national tours of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, A Christmas Carol (The Ghost of Christmas Past), and The Jungle Book (Baloo). Some other favorite credits include The Lost Colony (Alice Chapman/Choir), The Wizard of Oz (Tornado/Jitterbug Dancer), and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Puck). Most recently Amelia performed the title role of the National Theatre for Children's Boomerang Jack and the Top Secrect Energy Caper educating children across the Midwest about Green Energy and Renewable Resources! Amelia currently resides in New York City.
NICKI LAPORTE Drama Instructor
Nicki LaPorte is a 2010 graduate from Central Connecticut State University with degrees in both U.S History and Educational Theatre. She lives in the New Britain Artists Co-op in downtown New Britain where she is constantly surrounded by, and inspired by, the arts. Currently she is working on establishing a theatre company in the Greater Hartford area that will bring low-cost arts to schools where similar projects have been cancelled due to budget cuts. The show they are working with presently is their own stage adaptation of the 1950’s book Pippi and The South Seas. Nicki also has an extensive dance background that started in 1988 at a recital school in Tolland, CT, took her through her years at CCSU, and recently she has been focusing on ballroom dance. She is very excited to work with Performing Arts Programs and continue to bring the arts to young people.
LAUREN CAVANAUGH Drama Instructor
Lauren received her MA in Educational Theatre at The Steinhardt School, NYU in 2006 and her BFA in Musical Theatre at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. She directed and co-wrote “Land of the Babydolls” which she produced at Nicu’s Spoon Theatre in New York City. She also directed “Lovers and Thieves”, at the Roy Arias Studio through Zenbaby Theatre Co., the theatre company she founded in New York in 2008. Her short play “Honey & Candy” was produced by the Gallery Players in Brooklyn, NY in 2009. The Thirteenth Street Repertory Company produced her play “Nunchuck Ninja Nuns” in March 2008, where it had a successful run of eight weeks. She enjoys her career as a playwright but finds teaching her most satisfying work. As a teaching artist, she has worked with Periwinkle National Theater, Arts To Grow, Wingspan Arts and Americorps through Pace University, using creative techniques to teach children Drama, Poetry, Literacy, ESL, Art and Music. She has developed several new plays with children for performance in New York City public and private schools. She is very enthusiastic about using elements of improvisation, playwriting, and creative play to enrich the educational experience of children in the Performing Arts Program.
TAYLOR NOBLE Drama Instructor
Taylor is currently a student at Pace University in New York City where she is pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. In high school, she attended the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts where she majored in Voice and Theatre. She has been studying and performing theatre for about 12 years and has loved every minute of it. Some of her favorite on-stage credits include Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Rizzo in Grease, Fantine in Les Miserables, and Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress. Most recently, Taylor performed at Schaeberle Theater (New York City) in their production of Bare, where she played the role of Nadia McConnell. She has also worked in the recording studio as a singer/songwriter in her spare time. Taylor is very excited to be a part of the Performing Arts Programs team where she can share her love of the arts with other performers!
SARAH CHAET Drama Instructor
Sarah has loved theatre her whole life, and even received a degree for her passion. Concentrating in directing, Sarah graduated from the University of Rhode Island. She then completed internships in North Carolina and central California, working as assistant director on major theatrical productions such as Mrs. Warren’s Profession and the world premiere play Bloody Blackbeard at Triad Stage and White Christmas, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Les Miserables at the Pacific Conservatory for Performing Arts. Sarah also toured to California’s central coast schools as stage manager for adaptations of Scott O’Dell’s Island of the Blue Dolphins and Francisco Jimenez’s The Circuit. Her family has long expected the transition to teaching, and she’s looking forward to teaching acting to children and young adults.
ANGIE SETTLEMIREDrama Instructor
Angie Settlemire received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Grove City College.After a year of teaching middle school music, she pursued three years of intensive performing arts training at Mimeistry International in California.There she studied under master mime artists Todd & Marilyn Farley and Theo & Jolie Williams, earning the Title of Director Journeyman. She also mentored under master story teller and published author, Melea Brock. In 2006, Angie co-founded Tri-flections, which performed and toured through 2008. During that time she also assisted with the choreography and direction of the mimodrame, Alice in Wonderland at CalvinCollege in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Over the last twelve years Angie has traveled throughout the United States, as well as Switzerland and Germany, teaching and performing.
KEVIN BARLOWSKI Drama Instructor
Kevin has found an unparalleled passion in teaching, holding a B.A. in Theatre Education from Emerson College and a certificate in Musical Theatre Performance from Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City. Continuing to work in varying facets of the theatre, he has directed and musically directed numerous productions for the Middle, High School and collegiate demographic, from “A Gaggle of Saints,” to “Gypsy.” An active accompanist, he has played for equity and New York auditions and productions, including “The World Goes ‘Round.” Kevin has worked in conjunction with the Greater Hartford Arts Academy as both educator and accompanist and continues to be involved in Unified Theatre, an organization dedicated to discovering the onstage abilities of individuals with and without special needs. As an actor, he has most recently returned from a production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” in Thailand, as Daniel. Involved in New York and Boston theatre for the past five years, favorite roles have included Caldwell B. Cladwell (Urinetown), Lysander/Francis Flute/First Fairy (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Baker (Into the Woods) and Ren McCormack (Footloose, Harvard University). He has also had the privilege of performing in Broadway for a New America. With a belief that students have the power to surpass any preconceived standard or expectation we may set forth if equipped with the appropriated tools and means for success, Kevin is elated to pair with the breadth of resources offered by Performing Arts Programs!
KRISTEN PALMER Drama Instructor
Kristen Palmer is a playwright and arts educator recently relocated to this area from Brooklyn, NY.She has over 15 years experience developing and teaching theatre and creative arts programs in Atlanta, New York City, rural Kansas, Seattle, Washington DC, Minneapolis, England and Virginia.From 2005 – 2008 she was a full-time teacher at Brooklyn Free School, developing the elementary program there and leading a writing program for all students, and before that she worked as a Teaching-Artist and Program Manager with the Creative Arts Team in NYC.As a playwright, she has received a Jerome Fellowship, been a finalist for the O’Neill Festival and her plays have been produced in New York City, LA, Washington DC, Seattle and Poughkeepsie, NY.
She holds a MA from NYU where she studied Educational Theatre and a BA in Dramatic Arts from Bretton Hall College, in Yorkshire, England.
CHRISTINE POLANDDance Instructor
Christine Poland began dancing with Jenny Rocha in 1995 and in 1998, became a founding member and the managing director of Rocha Dance Theater.During her years with the company, Christine has assisted the productions of Gaining Voice, Ponder Me, Not so Soft in NYC, RI, and Boston.She graduated with honors from Roger Williams University with a BA in Dance Performance Studies.Christine has performed with Sonia Plumb, Works/Laura Glenn, and Joseph Albano of Hartford, CT.After moving to NYC, she began performing for many small pick up companies getting exposure to the NYC dance scene. In 2005, she joined Hedi Latsky in Club Riot as “Valkeries”, this production took place at LaMama Experimental Theater.Performance credits include dancing for Monica Bill Barnes, Mary Fullam, Full Force Dance Productions, Guta Hedwig, Noel MacDuffie, Oil and Water Productions, Vanessa Paige and Angela Jones. Theatrical dance productions include Shirley and the Tropicana, Fishbowl, Her Mom’s Feet, and Queen Juniper all of which were directed by Christine Henry and choreographed by Jenny Rocha. She has also co-choreographed STUCK with Jenny.This piece has been presented at such events as Dancers Responding to Aids, Dixon Place, New Dance Group and Spoke the Hub. During 2000 – 2003, Ms Poland was a guest choreographer for Creative Arts Studio in Brooklyn, NY. Her choreography has also been in a silent film short by Christian Zuccoro, Serenity.In 2005, Christine had the great pleasure of dancing as the evil seagull for Gary Shore of RI in Ode his silent dance film.She has just completed a full season with Cornerstone Playhouse in Mystic, CT.
JAIME MORANODance Instructor
Jaime recently returned to CT after performing in the National Tour of "Magic Tree House: The Musical." Jaime attended the Hartford Conservatory as a Musical Theatre Major and later received a BFA in Theatre at Central Connecticut State University. She has been teaching theatre and dance throughout Connecticut since the age of 17. Jaime currently works as a performer at The Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Fairfield County and an acting teacher/choreographer at C.A.S.T. Children's Theatre. Jaime is very excited to share her experience and love of theatre with Performing Arts Programs!
DANIEL BRANDL Musical Director
Daniel has been playing piano for the last 21 years. He studied with Rebecca Davis at the Hartt School of Music and later continued with jazz pianist Peter Tomlinson at Western Connecticut State University. In 2006, he was asked to play keyboards with the Blake Cody Band for the David Foster/NBC production “Star Tomorrow” for which he recorded at Burbank Studios in Los Angeles. Recently, Dan’s Latin-jazz quartet was featured in an episode of NBC’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent. He received a B.M. in jazz studies and piano performance Cum Laude in 2007. Since graduating, Dan has furthered his studies with Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer and flutist Oriente Lopez. He has studied composition with Emmy-winning composer Hummie Mann as well as Jonathan N. Kupper. He has also studied arranging with the Charlie Parker award-winning composer Jamie Begian. He has had the honor to perform with Jimmy Green, Conrad Herwig, Carl Allen, Christian McBride, and Paquito D'Rivera among others.
As the resident Musical Director for the Spirit of Broadway Theater from 2009-2011, Daniel won the 2009 and 2010 Spirit Award for Best Musical Director. He had the pleasure to conduct and perform incredible new musicals like Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story, Greenbrier Ghost, Asylum the Strange Case of Mary Lincoln, The Day Boy & the Night Girl, Five Course Love and The Great American Trailer Park Musical. He continues to serve as a pianist and audition accompanist for local children’s theaters in Newington, New Canaan, Danbury, Milford and Hartford.
MATTHEW GALLAGHER Drama Instructor
Matthew Gallagher graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, earned a MA in English Literature from Western Connecticut State University, and a MFA in Drama from Ohio University. He appeared on several daytime dramas, including featured roles on "Guiding Light" and "Ryan's Hope." He was a past LAB member of the famed Circle Repertory Company and appeared in several Off-Broadway productions. His original play, "Voices Carry" was awarded an Honorable Mention letter from the Eugene O'Neil Theatre Conference in 1994. His original song, "Warm Texas Rain" was named one of the Top 50 amateur songs of the year by "American Songwriter" magazine in 2007. He is currently teaching English and Drama at Eastern Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford. He is pleased and proud to be part of the Performing Arts Programs.
AMELIA MOFFAT Dance Instructor
Amelia is currently a student at Eastern Connecticut State University. She is majoring in Child Psychology and minoring in Theatre. She will be entering her junior year this fall 2011. She has danced both recreationally and competitively in high school at Connecticut Dance Conservatory and then again in college with the ECSU dance team with their most recent competition at the NCAA nationals in Daytona, Florida! In high school she was President of the Music Department and the Captain of the Stratford High School Dance Team! She is excited to again spend her summer with Performing Arts Programs!
MADGE O'TOOLE Drama Instructor
Madge O’Toole has worked in Theatre as a Director, Actor, and Teacher for over 10 years in cities such as London, UK, NYC, NY, and Portland, OR.Her work has developed and matured over the years in part to the training received by such artists as: Ben Whitely (musical director for CATS on Broadway), Japan’s NOH theatre traveling group, Richard Crawford (Cirque Du Soleil), and Nigel Hess (Musical Director for the Royal Shakespeare Co. UK).She is currently the Drama Teacher at Memorial Middle School in Middlebury, CT and is excited to work with The Performing Arts Program for the first time this fall.
KIT NOVOTNY Drama Instructor
Kit Novotny is an actor, playwright and educator living in New Haven. Kit recently graduated from the University of Chicago where she studied anthropology and theater and was a proud member of the improv and sketch comedy group Off-Off Campus. In Chicago she worked professionally with About Face Theatre, Court Theatre, The Second City, Museum of Contemporary Art, Gorilla Tango Theatre, and ComedySportz. Kit has been teaching acting for the past 6 years at places like the Charles River Creative Arts Program and Univ. of Chicago's Family Resource Center. Kit completed the British American Drama Academy's Academy's Midsummer in Oxford Program and is also a certified yoga instructor. She's very excited to be teaching in CT!
ASHLEIGH HERNDON Dance/Drama Instructor
Ashleigh Herndon graduated from Catawba College with a degree in Musical Theatre and minors in music and dance. Some of her favorite professional credits include The Lost Colony (Jane Jones/ Dancer), Cinderella (Florabelle), Funny Thing Happened…Forum (Tintinabula), Where The Wild Things Are (Max), and Jesus Christ Superstar (dance ensemble). She also performed in three national tours with Theatre IV Children’s Theatre: Stone Soup, A Christmas Carol, and Thumbelina. Ashleigh has an extensive dance background and served as an assistant teacher with Success America Dance Convention and a teacher for Steppin’ Out Dance Academy in Salisbury, NC. Currently she teaches dance for Off The Floor Dance Productions in Woodstock, CT.
ELISE A. MURPHY MULLIGAN Drama Instructor
Elise is a local teacher and actress. She is currently teaching theatre, children's theatre and speech communications in many schools throughout Fairfield County, as well as writing numerous children's plays. Elise studied acting at Boston University and then went on to study educational theatre and psychology at New York University. While attending school in New York, She studied with a number of reputable teachers in Manhattan, as well as receiving a scholarship to study at HB studios in Greenwich Village. She has her Masters in Teaching from Sacred Heart University here in Connecticut.
Elise also teaches theatre and writes children's' plays with TigerTale Theatre and with Stamford Theatre Works' School for the Performing Arts, which she helped in creating and establishing more than ten years ago, Elise has taught theatre arts with The Boys and Girls Club of Stamford and at The Urban League. She also redesigned the educational program of Dr. LivingSound, an in school assembly program, for The Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk, for which she performed as Dr. LivingSound for a time. Elise has appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions, several films, commercials and music videos. Elise is thrilled and excited to be joining the wonderful group of professionals at Performing Arts Programs, Inc.
ROCKSHANA DESANCES Dance Instructor
Rockshana is a dance major and company member at C. W. Post Long Island University who has been dancing since the age of nine. She began dancing at Norwalk Dance Academy where she took numerous amounts of classes of different genera of dance. Along with taking classes, Rockshana was on the studios competitive team and performed in both large and small groups as well as solos, winning gold to 1st place medals. She then began assistant teaching and soon became the main teacher in many different classes. She has choreographed for the schools recital performance, and at the Progressive School of Long Island. She has performed in the C. W. Post recital where she worked with Michael Leon Thomas a contemporary instructor at Alvin Ailey and in the Post Dance Company performance working with modern instructor Alvin Ailey and founder of the Genesis dance company Karen Arceneaux. Rockshana truly enjoys dancing and teaching others of all ages what she has learned so some day they can do the same.
LENKA PICHLIKOVADrama Instructor
Lenka is an actress, director and teacher active in Connecticut. She studied dramatic arts at CharlesUniversity in Prague (MFA), and, in the US, acting with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof and mime with Marcel Marceau. Lenka teaches at SUNY Purchase and FairfieldUniversity and has also taught at the STW School of Performing Arts and in the Youth Drama Program at SUNY Purchase. She has acted in numerous Off-Broadway and Equity Regional productions, was featured in twelve European films and over forty television roles, and most recently, appeared in featured roles in the independent films, "Apples" and "Trophy Kids," as well as onstage in her one-woman show, "Katie Luther." Lenka is well-known for her schools performances throughout FairfieldCounty and the New York suburban area.She is happy to be working with Performing Arts Programs.
MICHAEL J. SGRIGNARI Drama Instructor
Michael is a recent graduate of Emerson College and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Acting and Theatre Education. For the past several years Michael has been working in the Boston area as an actor, scenic artist and stage manager. He has also served on the Board of Directors at the Winthrop Playmakers who have been named "Best Theatre Group in Boston" two years running. Favorite roles include "John Proctor" in Arthur Miller's The Crucible and "Bernardo" in West Side Story. Michael has also been nominated for the Eastern Mass. Association of Community Theatre awards for his Set Dressings in The Full MontyJoseph...Dreamcoat. Michael has previously worked with children at Kidstock Creative Theatre in Winchester, MA and is very excited to be joining P.A.P. and bringing the joy of acting to young people here in CT.
KATHRYN SEETHALER Drama/Dance Instructor
Kate Seethaler recently received her B.A. in dance from Springfield College, where she also completed minors in theatre and philosophy. As an undergrad, she was an extremely active dancer, actor and choreographer. From a young age, Kate trained in classical ballet and performed extensively with Brass City Ballet Company (Waterbury, CT). She has since danced for many peers, faculty and guest artists at such places as ACDFA New England (Boston) and Built on Stilts Dance Festival (Martha's Vineyard). Kate has also worked with Judy Dworin Performance Project, slipperyfish dance, The Dance Academy of Somers and Camps Mataucha and Cuno. Her SC theatre credits include roles in Under Milkwood, The "A" Project,Fuddy Meers (Claire) and Black Comedy (Carol). She will be performing at many festivals in the New England area this summer in addition to teaching with Performing Arts Programs. Kate is extremely excited to share her passion for dance with her students this summer!
KATHLEEN MAHAN Drama Instructor
Kathleen attended the Tatnall School in Wilmington, Delaware and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. As a performer she appeared at the Carousel Dinner Theater in Maine, the Shubert Theater in New Haven, and the National Musical Theater Network in New York. She has also performed with many children's theater companies throught the Northeast. Kathleen is the stage director of the Westchester Girls Choir and directs the children's cantatas at the Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, NY. She is very excited about working with the attending children of Performing Arts Acting Classes.
DANIEL SARNELLIDrama Instructor
Daniel has worked in the professional theater for the last fifteen years. As an actor he has worked with numerous companies including The MCC Theater, The Long Wharf Theatre, The Shubert Theatre, The Mill Mountain Theatre, The Allenberry Playhouse, The National Theatre of the Performing Arts, Elm Shakespeare Company and many others. His most recent work includes roles on Law & Order (the 300th episode) and All My Children. Daniel is one of our talented instructors and is very excited to be working with the children again this session!
MARIA DOUGLAS Drama Instructor
Maria has been immersed in the creative arts industry for over 20 years She has enjoyed acting with the Warner Theater, The Nutmeg Players as well as the Bethany Playhouse, to which she co-founded and was artistic director for 3 years.
She has collectively written, produced and directed over 25 stage productions for children and adults that have been showcased through out Connecticut and is also a recent graduate from the Ct. Film Industry Program held at Quinnipiac University.
Her enthusiasm in working with children led her to bring theater, music and reading enrichment programs to Connecticut schools since 1997.
SARI GAGNON Drama Instructor
Sari is a life long student of the arts in all forms. With a Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts from Kenne State College in the area of theater, dance, and film, she specialized in acting and directing in college, and pursued a minor in technical theatre. Sari then went onto some post-grad study at the world famous Circle in the Square Conservatory on Broadway in NYC, under the tutelage of such instructors as Jackie Brookes and Allen Langdon. She also studied with Ken Schatz, at ActorTec in the areas of physical improve, movement, and mask work. Sari also took screen test work shops with Dawn Wells.
Sari's experience in performing ranges from theatre shows, to commercials, to feature films and shows. She is involved with SECT (South East CT) film maker's group, the RIFC (RI Film Collaborative) and works closely with producers in Boston, Hartford, and Providence. Sari has performed in dozens of independent films all over New England.
MEREDYTH AREGOOD Drama Instructor
Meredyth is a former Hartt School of Music student where she majored in Music Theatre. She also attended the Greater Hartford Academy of Performing Arts and has been an active member of the Wethersfield Teen Theatre Company for 18 years. She currently works as a professional vocalist singing with several bands in the Greater Hartford area and NYC. She has been a stay at home mom for the last four years and is very excited to join Performing Arts Programs. She is looking forward to working with all of you this fall!
LEENA MACK Drama Instructor
Leena Mack became heavily involved in theatre in college and minored in communication/theatre. As a member of a traveling, improvisational theatre troupe that performed for children, she led workshops for high schoolers. In 2006, Leena founded Performing Arts Theatre for Homeschoolers (P.A.T.H.) in Western Mass where she teaches theatre classes, directs, and produces plays throughout the school year for homeschooled students ages 3 to high school.
SCOTT KEGLER Drama Instructor
Scott is a local actor/director who has worked in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and NYC. Most of Scott's work has been on stage but he has also performed in several independent films, but performs mostly in interactive and educational theatre. He holds a degree in Performing Arts from Eastern Connecticut State University, and has also studied Asian Theatre in Wakayama, Japan. Scott is very excited to share his wealth of knowledge with people of all ages.
MATTHEW PRICE Drama Instructor
Matthew received a Master of Arts in Theatre from The Theatre Conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts. He also has earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the Pennsylvania State University. While working as an instructor in the Advanced Learning Program of the Greenwich Public Schools, Matthew taught Shakespeare and theatre skills to both third and fifth grade students. Presently, he is the Theatre Arts teacher for the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School in Madison, Connecticut, working with fifth and sixth graders in the development of fundamental acting skills, through a focus in Greek Mythology and Theatre. Matthew has appeared on stage locally and in several theaters in Chicago. Some of Matthew's most memorable roles have been Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls with the Podium Players, Sebastian in Twelfth Night at the Hole-In-The-Wall Theatre, Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees at the Thomaston Opera House, and Deely in Old Times at the O'Malley Theatre in Chicago.
NICK CHECKER Drama Instructor
Nick Checker, graduate of the University of Connecticut (BFA), has written a number of independent films that have been produced and shown in cinemas and made successful film fest rounds throughout the country. Nick has also written a controversial historical play, "Elegy For An Icon," that premiered at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT -- and was later adapted for use in an Emmy award winning documentary, "Mystic Voices." In addition, he wrote a play that was published by Eldridge Publishing, Florida -- "Kangaroo Court," a dark satire where animals put humans on trial. The play continues to be produced in various sectors of the country every year.
Most recently Nick wrote the screenplay for the award winning film, "The Curse Of Micah Rood," which stars Ron Palilo formerly of the old "Welcome Back Kotter" TV series. Firesite Films premiered the film at Niantic Cinemas in Niantic, CT last December and it has been shown a number of times at cinemas and at prestigious film festivals. The next screening is at Olde Mistick Village Cinemas on October 30th, 2008.
Nick has performed in numerous plays and independent films and also teaches writing and acting to students in an age range including children, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens. He takes pride in the knowledge that a number of his students have gone on to utilize the crafts of writing and acting in their own pursuits.
KEELY KNUDSEN Drama Instructor
Keely received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her Master’s Degree in Drama from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. Keely has performed as a singer/dancer/actress/choreographer with Cornerstone Productions’ on-going variety musicals and Elm Shakespeare Company. In addition, she has performed in musicals, classic and contemporary plays, ballets, puppet shows, operas, jazz concerts, mime shows, on-camera, in symphonies (bassoon), and behind a radio microphone. Highlights of her performing venues include the Public Theatre, Long Wharf, Carnegie Hall, and the Edinburgh Festival. Her directing credits include Playing for Time, which was ranked #1 in the state of Utah in 2001. She has held a position as faculty in the theatre department at Quinnipiac University since 2002. Keely will be directing the world premier of Erik Orton’s historical musical The Drummings at the Long Wharf Theatre this fall as well as appearing at Carnegie Hall a third time in an Alexander Nevsky concert.
ANDREA NARDONE Dance Instructor
Andrea is currently attending Westfield State University where she is pursuing a double major in Vocal Music Education and Special Education. Andrea is originally from upstate New York where she was involved in a local theatre program for seven years. With this program she has performed in 21 musicals. Andrea also performed in drama club in high school and choreographed two of the shows. Some of her lead roles include: Sheila in A Chorus Line, Kim in Miss Saigon, Queen Aggravain in Once Upon a Mattress, Lola in Damn Yankees, and Marty in Grease. In college Andrea is part of her school’s A Cappella group, Night Owls, and is also on her school’s Competitive Dance Team, where they placed 7th at Nationals. Andrea has also been involved in Musical Theatre at Westfield State University where she just finished her role as the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd. This is Andrea’s second year working with Performing Arts Programs and she is very excited to meet the kids and share her passion of performing arts with the students.
KYLE REYNOLDS Dance Instructor
Kyle is a recent graduate of Central Connecticut State University (2011). He was last seen in CCSU’s production of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as Leaf Coneybear. Kyle has performed throughout numerous theaters all over Connecticut in such productions as Hello Dolly, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Grease, Chicago, Anything Goes and Babes in Arms. He has been choreographing the Plantsville Community Theater production for the past two years which have showcased musical performances from Hairspray, The Wizard of Oz, and West Side Story. In addition, he also recently Assistant directed in the Coventry Middle School production of The Boy Who Left Home to Find Out About the Shivers. He is currently working on his 2nd Bachelors Degree to further his passion and knowledge of theater. Kyle is thrilled to be a part of the PAP team and have the opportunity to share his passion of music, dance, and world of theater to others this summer with Performing Arts Programs!
SARAH SIZENSKY Drama Instructor
Sarah is a 2011 graduate of Pace University in New York City and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. Her theatrical education also includes Queen Mary University in London, the University of Rhode Island and the Boston University Summer Institute. She has been involved in the theater arts for over 10 years and has appeared in and worked on several productions such as The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Cunningham), Amadeus (Costuming), The Prime of Miss Jean Brody (Wardrobe), and Into the Woods (Stepmother). Her work has appeared in the New York Film Festival as well as notarization in the Connecticut Post, the Herald Sun and the Hartford Courant. Most recently, she worked on a feature film titled Bullycam which premiered at the the Community Film Institute (Fairfield, CT) in May of 2011. She also sings with a bluegrass band forfun in her spare time. Sarah is very excited to join the team at Performing Arts Programs and is looking forward to sharing her passion for theater with children!
J.R. FALCON Dance Instructor
J. R. has been dancing for fifteen years and he is currently working towards his Bachelors of Arts in Dance from Hofstra University. While in Connecticut he has worked with the Town of Wethersfield as a dance instructor for the program Dance and Drama. He has also choreographed for dance schools in Connecticut as well. In New York he has worked with Stormy Brandenberger, Devin Pullins, and Amy Marshall performing various styles including jazz, modern, and hip-hop. He is excited to start working with everyone at Performing Arts Programs this summer.
AARON BRESLEY Assistant Music Director
Aaron has been annoying his friends, family and neighbors with his loud banging on the piano ever since he was tall enough to reach the keys.It’s only been recently that this enthusiasm has resulted in a bachelor’s degree from Clark University with a degree in Music Composition and Theory.During his time there he studied under John Aylward and Matt Malsky and was the music director of several shows, including a student written production.He has twice attended the VCCA sponsored Etchings Music Festival in Auvillar, France and the soundSCAPE Festival in Maccagno, Italy.He looks forward to studying at the California Institute of the Arts in the Fall, and aspires to one day share his love for music by teaching full time.

Emily is so thrilled to be apart of the PAP community! She is currently enrolled at Marymount Manhattan College in NYC, where she is in the BFA Acting program and is enjoying every minute of it. She was apart of PAP’s Performing Arts Youth Collective for two years which helped solidify her love for the theater.She has been apart of various theater productions throughout CT, and when she is not performing on stage, she tries to see as many shows as possible!
STACEY CURTI Drama Instructor
Stacey Curti has had a dedicated career in the performing arts, with over 20 years experience as a performer, instructor and manager. Originally from California, she grew up performing in children’s theater and community theater, started choreographing productions and teaching acting classes at the age of sixteen, and continued her love of the performing arts by earning a BA in Drama from the University of California at Irvine. After relocating to the east coast, she worked in arts management for several years as the Programs Manager for New York City Dance Alliance, the Company Manager for New York City Theatrical Events, and then the Managing Director of The Play Group Theater in White Plains, NY. She currently directs and choreographs children’s theater productions for Crystal Theatre in Norwalk, CT and is excited to join the Performing Arts Programs team this fall.
MEAGAN KINNEY Drama Instructor
Meagan is a UConn graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education.Meagan has been in the education field for over seven years, working with children of all ages.She has been fortunate to have gained the rewarding experiences of working with children of all learning abilities and acquiring the knowledge of how to accommodate for children with diverse needs.Her internship includes a year of working with students in grades K – 8, with a student teaching assignment in 2nd grade.She currently teaches 5th grade in West Hartford.Meagan loves to include theater in her classroom as much as possible, especially in history!Meagan’s acting experience has taken place on numerous Connecticut theater stages.Her favorite shows thus far have been Shakespeare in Hollywood, The Importance of Being Earnest, Don’t Dress for Dinner, and Moon Over Buffalo.Teaching children and acting on stage are Meagan’s two passions and she is excited to get to combine the two!
STEPHANIE GILBERT Drama Instructor
Stephanie is an actress, singer and dancer who has performed in the Boston area and throughout Western Massachusetts. She has attended Berklee College of Music in Boston for voice and Circle in the Square Theater School in NYC for Musical Theater. She has also received her Associates in Early Childhood Education and taught preschool for the last four years in Western Mass. Some of her favorite roles have been Nellie in South Pacific, Mrs. Walker in The Who’s Tommy, Eliza in My Fair Lady, Marion in The Music Man and Sally in Cabaret. Stephanie is excited to share her great love and joy for the theater with her students.
BRADLEY CONNERS Drama Instructor
Brad has received a BA in Performing Arts/Theater from Eastern Connecticut State University, he's performed in productions throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York City. Recently Brad has become interested in improv and looks forward to continue studying this new passion. He is excited begin sharing his knowledge and love of theater to his students.

DARLENE VILLANOVA Drama Instructor
Darlene holds a B.S degree in Communication with a minor in English from ECSU. She also has an A.S degree in Media from MCC. She was trained in acting through the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute of NY. Darlene has worked as a local DJ for Radio Disney Hartford and as a freelance actress for 20 years. Her credits include both local and international commercial work, along with numerous television and film roles. She is an award winning writer and director who most recently won the 2007 Hartford International Film Festival.
BRYENNE LIBBY Dance Instructor - Rhode Island
Bryenne Libby, originally from central Maine, began dancing and performing at age 3. Under the direction of Brad Adams from Bradley’s School of Dance and Audrey Rea from Dance Express, she has trained in several dance styles including tap, ballet, jazz, pointe, lyrical, modern and riverdance. She has attended and performed at several dance conventions including the Maine Dance Teachers Club. She is a graduate of Roger Williams University where she received a BA in Communications and a minor in Dance Performance. Since graduating she has performed with Dance Express in Disney World and most recently returned as an alumni dancer and choreographer in their spring recital. She is currently living in Warwick, RI and is very excited to be sharing her passion with the students of Performing Arts Programs!
DANIEL LEE WHITE Drama Instructor
Daniel is a graduate (BA in Mass Communication and a Minor in Theatre Arts) of Franklin Pierce College, New Hampshire and currently resides in Providence with his fiancée Kerri and their super rabbit named Emily. A native New Englander, Daniel Lee White developed an early obsession with the performing arts—both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes. His extensive experience focuses on acting, directing, editing, and teaching. He has completed many creative roles in films such as Casting Doubt, The Miskatonic Acid Test, McMulligan's Hovel, and Walking Shadows. At the age of twenty-one, he starred in Blood Wedding—an off West End theatrical performance in London. His other director credits include Used Books, an official selection for the 2007 Rhode Island International Film Festival, and The Pitch, which won awards for Audience Favorite and 2nd Runner Up. From 1997 through 2000, he created and directed Reality Check—a theatre troupe at FranklinPierceCollege that presents moving skits on teen issues to local schools and community centers. Since 2005, he has also served as the Professional Coordinator and Directing Mentor of summer theatre workshops for the cast of Reality Check. Finally, Daniel teaches acting classes for children throughout New England for Performing Arts Programs and filmmaking to youth in Woonsocket, Rhode Island through NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley.
CHRISTIN L. GOFF Drama Instructor
Christin L. Goff is originally from Newport, Rhode Island which is where she began her stage career at age four in the Newport Players Guild production of The Trojan Women. Since that time she has performed at several community theaters in the New England area, including The Powerhouse Players in Connecticut, Quannapowitt Players in Massachusetts, and The Rhode Island Shakespeare Theatre and 2nd Story Theatre in Rhode Island. She graduated magna cum laude (2004) from Rhode Island College where she dual-majored in theater performance and elementary education, and in 2008 completed a six-week intensive at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City. Some of her favorite roles have been Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Catherine Sloper (The Heiress), Barbara (Major Barbara), Jessie (’night Mother), and Maggie (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof). She lives in Cranston, Rhode Island with her family and pets and is very excited to be working with Performing Arts, Inc.
SHAYNA EISEMANN Drama Instructor
Shayna has just graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre Performance. Throughout college, she has worked as a nanny for many families in the area, and continues to do so after graduating. She has also been employed by an online based company to teach voice lessons to students in the Rhode Island area. Always looking for new ways to combine her love of the arts with her love of working with children, Shayna is excited to start teaching with Performing Arts Programs.
SARA KESSLER Dance Instructor
Sara is a native of Colchester, CT. She is a 2010 graduate of Dean College where she majored in Dance. While at Dean, she served as president of the Residence Hall Association and the hip-hop dance team “Break tha Silence.” She was a leader in many student productions including the Dean Choreographer’s Showcase, the annual Dean at Patriot’s Place Event, dance team shows, and the Break the Silence Fashion Show. Her performance experience includes the Albano Ballet Company of America production of the The Nutcracker, and the Pioneer Valley Ballet productions of Firebird and Sleeping Beauty. Sara has taught several local dance teams and has served on the faculty of other dance studios and municipal after school programs.
MASSACHUSETTS
MEGHAN LYNN ALLEN Drama Instructor
Meghan Lynn Allen studied theater at Marymount Manhattan College. She most recently directed Home For the Holidays and stage managed The Miracle Worker, It's A Wonderful Life, and Golf the Musical at the Majestic Theater. When she is not directing or stage managing, Meghan is working with aspiring young performers. Meghan is excited for her next theater adventure as one of the doo wop girls in Little Shop of Horrors performing at the Academy of Music in Northampton, Mass. She is passionate about theater and education and instills that same passion in her students.
KAIT RANKINS Drama Instructor
Kait received her BFA in Theatre Arts from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and has trained with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts. Since graduating college in 2006 she has focused on educating children in both theater and science, working as an instructor, graphic artist, and acting coach for the Wilbraham Summer Youth Theatre (2006-present) and a performer/teacher with Mad Science of Western New England (2007-2010). Outside of education, Kait has worked the last four seasons as a cast member, house manager, and website designer/maintainer for the Majestic Theater in West Springfield and will be continuing with them for the 2011-2012 season. As well as performing in Missouri and Iowa, she has been an actor in the western Massachusetts / northern Connecticut area since 1993. She also works as PAP's graphic designer and specializes in theatrical photography, including actor headshots (www.kaitrankins.com).
LIBBY SCHAP Drama Instructor
Libby Schap graduated from the College of the Holy Cross is 2000 with a B.A in Theater. After graduation, she worked with New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Company in Poughkeepsie and in the after school programs with the MetroWest YMCA. She obtained a M.A. in Theology and the Arts in 2008 at Andover Newton Theological School. She is currently understudying in the ongoing production of Awesome 80’s Prom in Boston and teaching drama classes in the Boston area.
EMMY BEAN Drama Instructor
Emmy Bean is a theater artist and musician living in western Massachusetts. After studying music and theater at Vassar College, she went on to study with Sandglass Theater, LaMaMa ETC, and the San Francisco Mime Troupe. She has performed an original puppet play "war bride" on various stages in Providence, Vermont, New York City, and Quebec. Other performance work includes: "The Long Christmas Ride Home" at Studio Theater in Washington DC; "The Snow Queen" at Sandglass Theater; "Flood" and "Stiles Under Sky" with Company of Strangers. She has also appeared in Amanda Maddock's puppet
play"Mrs. Wright's Escape" and co-created the "Three Piggy Opera" at Links Hall in Chicago. She is proud to be an associate with Great Small Works in New York City and has performed with them in parades, spectacles, and toy theater shows. In 2005 she toured with the Cosmic Bicycle Theater in "Objete", a children's show created for the ASSITEJ International Festival in Montreal. She is thrilled and grateful to be working with young people, sharing ideas and playing onstage!
LAUREN ANNALDO Drama Instructor
Lauren is currently attending St. Lawrence University and is looking forward to finishing her senior year with a BA in Performance and Communication Arts and a minor in Gender Studies. During her time at SLU, she has worked with students teaching them acting skills and educating them the importance of the arts. Lauren was able to work alongside professional actors such as the winner of the 2008 Best Playwright, Clay McLeod Chapman. She has recently directed the annual murder mystery, The Deadly Brief Case and a 10 minute play, I Know Your Crazy, Taj say’s so. She hopes to continue to work and be involved with theater while also working with children professionally.
KIMBERLY MOCHEN Dance Instructor
Originally from Ashby, MA, Kimberly began her dance training at Tami's Dance Connection in Leominster, MA where she was a member of the nationally recognized competition team. She then trained at The Gold School in Brockton, MA under the direction of Rennie Gold. While a student there, she had the opportunity to study under such notable dancers as Rhee Gold, Naileh Bellinger, Kathy Kozul, Larry Sousa, Kenny Wormald, Tyce Diorio, Chris Judd, and Mia Michaels. In 2002, Kim was a member of the U.S.A. Dance Team, representing the United States at the World Showdance Championships in Riesa, Germany. Currently, she can be seen performing and choreographing for Rainbow Tribe: the Dance Company out of Boston, MA under the direction of Mary Mazulli. In addition, Kim is a member of the 2009 Lady Wolf Pack performing for the Arena Football2's Manchester Wolves. Kim is also an adjudicator for such national dance competitions as Sophisticated Productions, Turn It Up Dance Challenge, Olympic Miss Dance, and Dance U.S.A. She is a nationally sought after teacher and choreographer and enjoys traveling the country to work with children of all ages. Kim is beyond excited to be working with Performing Arts Programs this summer and looks forward to an amazing experience!
JACQUELINE SEREBRANI-KESNER Drama Instructor
I am an interdisciplinary arts educator, drama specialist, theatre director, playwright and writer. In addition to teaching, curriculum development and private consultation, I have lead artist-in-residency programs Off-Broadway, in regional theatre, for public and private schools and universities. My work spans cross-cultural populations including students with learning differences. Much of my work also focuses on social issues that have deep significance for students at all strata of society. I am currently Director of Creative Arts Enrichment, an interdisciplinary arts company that provides residency programs, teaching training and individual and group consultation/workshops. I am also a Creative Director at Auracana; a film, television and digital marketing/content development company. I received my bachelors from SUNY/Loughborough University UK, and a Master’s degree from Emerson College, Boston, MA. I believe students of all ages learn best through a thoughtfully guided process that ignites their interest in learning. When a teacher carries an enthusiasm and interest, so too will their students. I strive in my work to wake people up, to really see…to live fully, to love learning completely, from the inside out.
KACEE STAITI Drama Instructor
Kacee graduated from Stonehill College with a BA in Communications and a minor in Elementary Education, where she was actively involved with the Stonehill Theatre Company (both on and off the stage). Kacee has experience as a performer, assistant director, assistant stage manager, props master, sound/light board operator, and costume coordinator. She has taught acting classes for the Operatunity Performing Arts Center and The Orpheum Academy, and serves as a member of the Executive Board for The F.U.D.G.E. Theatre Company of Boston/Wakefield. She was recently nominated for two “Distinguished Achievement and Special Honors” awards from the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres for her supporting role in The F.U.D.G.E. Theatre Company’s production of the musical I Love You Because, (a Boston area premiere production) and for her work as Co-Props Master for a production of Bat Boy: The Musical. Some of Kacee’s favorite performance credits include: Into the Woods (Little Red Ridinghood), The House of Blue Leaves (Bananas Shaugnessy), Urinetown (Little Sally), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Protean). Kacee is excited for the opportunity to share her enthusiasm and love for theatre as a teacher with Performing Arts Programs.
STEPHANIE CRUGNOLA Drama Instructor
Stephanie graduated in 2008 from Framingham State College with a degree in English and Secondary Education. At Framingham State she was a part of the Hilltop Players, a student-run theatre group, where she acted in, produced, and choreographed a number of musicals and plays. She also was an original member of the Suit Jacket Posse—Framingham State’s first improv group. She spent 4 years with the Suit Jacket Posse, and upon graduation completed improv training at Improv Boston. Stephanie works at a community theatre, Steps Off Broadway, in Bellingham, MA where she performs, assists production, and teaches theatre classes and camps. Recently, she has begun a Shakespeare workshop at Steps and is currently starring in, producing, and assistant directing Much Ado About Nothing. At Marlborough High School, in addition to teaching English, Stephanie is co-advisor for the Drama Club where she has directed and produced for the past two years.
ELISSA DIBONA Dance Instructor
Elissa DiBona started her dance training at the age of 2. She grew up training with the Boston Ballet. During her years studying the Vaganova ballet technique, she performed with the Company at the Wang Center in Nutcracker. To compliment her ballet training, she also studied tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, and modern dance. She was an award winning performer at various regional and national dance competitions through out New England. She continued her studies in New York, earning a degree in dance from Hofstra University. Post graduation, she moved to New York and was the co founder of the Faith Dance Project, a contemporary ballet company that performs in Manhatten. Elissa moved back to the Boston area to pursue a Masters degree at Boston University. She is currently teaching and choreographing full time.
SHERI LEVSON Drama Instructor
Sheri grew up in California, where she met her husband when she was just 8 years old, while performing in community theatre! She has performed in tour groups, plays, and musicals since the age of 6, and appearing in 2 commercials and a movie. Sheri has produced and directed many children’s theatre productions, including being the director of the Performing Arts Summer camp at the New Haven JCC for two summers.
Sheri graduated from UC Berkeley and began teaching elementary school before moving to Israel, Oklahoma, New York, Connecticut, and now (to where she hopes to be her permanent home) in MA. She lives in Longmeadow with her husband of 22 years and their 16 year old, musically talented daughter, and a menagerie of pets!
