FAQ’s for Potential Teachers
     FAQ
    • Do I have to attend the interview in person or may I interview over the phone?
We realize that you are all busy professionals in your field but it is imperative that you attend an interview in person at our main office in South Windsor, CT. We need to meet you in person. We do occasionally host interviews at satellite offices closer to Boston, if that is a more convenient location and you can wait for that opportunity. Please keep in mind, that though we hold on-going interviews and will hold your resume on file, our programs are staffed on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the sooner we meet with you, the sooner you will be considered to join our staff for the next upcoming session of classes.

    • How much do you pay your instructors?
Instructors pay is at the discretion of the director based on their individual level of experience. We also offer a travel stipend to all instructors in addition to the payment for classes.

    • Do I get to choose what class or what age group I teach?
It is up to the administration of Performing Arts Programs to place an instructor in a town and/or program that we feel will be the best fit for them given their experience and location. Most of our programs are introductory-intermediate acting classes created for children in Kindergarden-8th grade, though we do work with all ages and offer more advanced programs as well. Because of this, instructors should feel comfortable and be willing to work with children of all ages and skill levels and not request a certain location, class, or age group.

    • May I submit a proposal for a class that is not currently offered in your program?
The Director is always looking to build upon the curriculum and programs that have been formed and used with great success and acclaim. If you have a suggestion of a class that you feel would enhance our business and fit our goals of teaching performing arts skills to children, we would be interested in hearing about it during your interview. We will gladly take your submission into consideration but would like you to understand that it takes time and effort to implement changes in curriculum and to develop new programs.
